PAULA AKANA: “Making the Career Move to Nonprofit.”

Paula AkanaOn Thursday, September 23, 2021, the Professional Women’s Network will welcome Paula Akana, the Executive Director of The Friends of Iolani Palace. Paula Akana, as the keynote speaker at our Zoom Lunch Break, will be sharing her journey as one of Hawaii’s most recognizable TV journalists to the nonprofit position she holds today.

Paula is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii at Manoa where sshe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Over the years, Paula has served with a number of local nonprofit organizations, including the Board of Directors for YMCA Metro Honolulu and Ma‘o Farms. She is a member of the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu. For many years, she also volunteered with the Polynesian Voyaging Society, working on education initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
